Press Release 2004/01: Reduce Landfill - Recycle With a Virtual Skip !
Two North Derbyshire environment enthusiasts have found a virtual solution for tackling waste disposal issues - by encouraging residents to swap landfill sites for their website.
[ Under the brand of vSkips ] they have created a website which aims to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by allowing people to dump their unwanted household items in a virtual skip. Other users can then log on to vSkips and search through, claiming what they want by contacting the skip owner to organise collection.
The duo hope their idea will reduce the volume of rubbish sent to landfill by finding new owners to reuse items that would otherwise end up at the tip.
